I’m 25, was a hippie at New Trier High School and still kind of look like one. I’m liberal, Jewish, anti-war and against a big military.
The North Shore suburb in which I grew up, Glencoe, was full of anti-gun progressives like my parents. While studying at Columbia University — not exactly a National Rifle Association stronghold — I was a vegan, giving up not just meat but all animal products like dairy and eggs.
So I’m not the person you’d expect to own a semi-automatic rifle, a .308 hunting rifle and a 12-gauge shotgun. Read more…
